I have posted a Powerpoint lesson with Audio in our course section. This is essentially the lesson we had in class. If you were absent or wish to review, I recommend watching- it is about 20 minutes long.

It is hard to believe that the year is nearly finished! It seems like yesterday that we met and began our journey together. It has been a great year with lots of learning, laughing and even a few stumbles. But, we have all made it to this point and I am very proud of all my students and a little sad that I won't be seeing you until the fall.
I hope that everyone does very well on their culminating activities and exams and that you all have a very safe and happy ...

For all those students and staff who are interested in social justice and equity, I have been made aware of an opportunity to provide education and training to girls in the Swat Valley, Pakistan. Schools for girls were closed in this region in 2010. By clicking on the link below and watching the short slide show presentation, a donation will be made to provide education and training for girls and women in this region to improve the living conditions in these communities.

Welcome and welcome back to all of my students and their families. I hope everyone had time to work a little, play a little and relax a little- in other words I hope everyone found a good life balance. September is often a time for new resolutions and good intentions for a new start. This week is the time to start putting in place the foundations for good habits. It typically takes 3 months to really establish a habit so now is the time to start- the first report card comes in November ! To h...

It is that time of year when the days are getting warmer and the evenings longer. This great weather can make it even more difficult to focus on the tasks at hand, but it is important for students to buckle down and focus on those culminating tasks.
It is also time to ensure that binders are complete and well organised in preparation for final exams. Please check the appropriate class bin for missing hand-outs and check with a study partner for missing no...

The winter break is quickly approaching and I just want to wish all of the Riverdale students and families a joyful, restful and happy holiday. Whether or not you are celebrating this December, it is a nice time to spend with family and friends and a good time to contemplate the possibilities that the new year brings. The days will be getting longer and while there is time to enjoy all that winter has to offer, the spring will no doubt be upon us before we know it! So, let's...

As everyone knows, there have been some timetable changes at Riverdale. It is always challenging to change mid-stream and certainly I feel sad to say goodbye to my fabulous Grade 10 Academic History classes. You are a group of smart, fun and talented young people. However, you are going to have a wonderful teacher and I know you will all thrive in your new environment. Ultimately, these changes are for the better and will only help in the success of all of our students...

We are planning to take a group of Grade 10 students to Netherlands, Belgium and France in the spring. April, 2012 marks the 95th anniversay of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, a defining moment in Canadian History. Students will be part of the ceremony to mark this key event. They will also visit the Anne Frank museum and many prominent Historical sites related to Canadian History. The trip will also include a visit to the Louvre and other cultural sites in Paris. Spac...
